The DDX10 reminds me of Yamaha's TX7 Tone Generator FM Expander, which I've used in the past and had paired with a Yahama SY35 and created a killer Electric Piano combo for a song. So I paired the DDX10 with Dead Duck Software's DPiano-E and again came up with an awesome combo preset. The presets are a little harsh and their volumes maxed out, however, the GUI is clean, simple, and easy to figure out. I couldn't figure out how to save custom presets as it doesn't show on the unit's display, but still worth having in one's sound toolkit.

I want to like it but the design is too counter intuitive for me. Everything sounds like some sort of organ or electric piano. It's rarely too fat or too harsh. It always has this really well balanced, thin, mid-focussed sound. But I don't really understand what any of the controls do, I'm just twiddling at random.
This has the same sounds and presets as the FM synth that comes with Tracktion Waveform free. I guess that synth must just be a re-skinned version of this one?
In an update to my review, I like this one a lot and it is great at keyboard tones and surprisingly good at string pads but I still find FM synthesis to be unintuitive. I really like it but in practice I find that something like Dexed (while not as easy to use) has lots of presets which are nicer than anything this synth can do. So I really like this one but if you have Dexed you might find that you won't use this synth very often.

The sound reminds me of the Korg DS8

Very nice litle FM synth. The user interface is nice an simple, making FM synthesis easy to use (for once). Limited, but nice, and easy to create sound similar to cheap FM synths of the mid eighties.

Great little FM synth, free and simple with interesting patches like harpsichord, jazz e piano, harp, and other instrument FM emulations
I tried it in Ardour 5 64 bit. As soon I load the VST, Ardour is shutting down immediately.

Welcome back DDX10

This is plugin has the exact same sounds and presets as MDA's DX10 synth plugin, just with a nicer UI.. So I don't know if Dead Duck Software is MDA or if it's just stolen.. I used to use the MDA a lot in my early recordings, so I immediately recognized the sounds.. Can't say this is a bad plugin, I do like the UI better on this one than the MDA..
I'm so sorry, i'm a dummy..... Indeed welcome back DX10!

Sounds nice. Ease of use and limited options are two sides of the same coin. Still offers a pretty wide variety of sounds, especially when playing with the 'Mod Ratio'. Could use separate sliders for Decay and Sustain in the 'Amp Envelope'.
It´s kinda neat, but it needs more presets and more variety of sounds.
Why don't you create Sounds yourself??? Go Ahead !!!
