VST
basic 64 is inspired by the 8 bit sounds of the classic Commodore 64.

It’s not a straight emulation, but is based around the SID chip with some extras for that 8-bit retro game sound, lofi gritty noises or just plain oddness.
  • 16, 8 or 6 bit sound quality.
  • 3 oscs, each with their own ADSR envelope.
  • Oscillators can be sync’d and ring modulated by each other.
  • Pitch envelope modulation.
  • Pitch wobble option, for subtle instability.
  • 2 tempo-sync LFO’s to modulate pitch, cut-off and pulse width.
  • LFO’s have attack/release curves.
  • Tempo-sync arpegiator.
  • Flexible routing to state variable filter (LP, HP & BP).
  • Envelopes can be reset or continuous at retrigger.
  • Monophonic or polyphonic option.
  • Midi learn / midi CC support.
  • 128 presets by sinkmusic & WhiskeyPriest.

I love this vst. It's nuts, the presets are great, and I can modify them to get some really cool stuff.

Thanks for this. I once did an entire album with this synth named weekeew https://ajrucinsky.bandcamp.com/album/weekeew . It's a very fun synth to use.

This is the best VST Plugin for Chiptunes! It´s very easy to create an own sound and the presets are pure nostalgia. Awesome!

THE best free chiptune vst synth you will find. I f'n love this damn thing. Seriously, you can get fantastic sounds out of this once you spend a little bit of time with it. Might take a bit of effort to get to it's full potential, but well worth it. I use this up there with paid for software like Massive. Highly recommended if you're looking to add a bit of low-fi nes/atari to your projects.

This synth is really probably the best for chiptune, barring bleep (which basically rips off Basic 64, throws in a couple tricks, and makes the interface nicer). I know when I first got it, it confused me with it's filters and bit rates and all, but when you go in to analyze the presets, it only opens the world up. THIS PLUGIN SHOULD NOT BE A THREE!

Well it's definitely better than 3 stars, but - like every other SID emulation - does not support proper MIDI chord arpeggio; just fixed, pre-programmed chords :-(

It does the trick and it does it good. Not the best interface in the world but it sounds good.
